I've had Randy Newman songs in my head for days:

Louisiana, 1927:

What has happened down here is the winds have changed
Clouds roll in from the north and it started to rain
Rained real hard and rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline

The river rose all day
The river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood
Some people got away alright
The river have busted through cleard down to Plaquemines
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangelne

Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tyrin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a note-pad in his hand
The President say, "Little fat man isn't it a shame what the river has
done
To this poor cracker's land."

Unfair? Perhaps. I'm not feeling particularly fair at the moment. A lot of people keep trying to tell me that this is not a time to criticize the president. They're wrong. It's been five years of nothing but bad priorities and mismanagement that have left us with nothing but tragedy.

I'm tired of despair. If your run for the office of president of the United States of America, you need to understand that every national lapse of judgement is ultimately your responsibility. The buck needs to stop there, nowhere else.

Anger is a perfectly respectable anger when handled correctly. This administration needs to hear the anger out there. It needs to grow louder.
