Pimping other people
May. 22nd, 2006 07:14 pmJust passing along info about two great poetry workshops -- one online, at The Online School of Poetry, and the other in Los Angeles, run by my longtime friend and colleague Deborah Edler Brown. Both are excellent opportunities to study writing with amazing teachers and gifted writers.
First, the Online School of Poetry, which I believe starts courses June 11.
There's a fine array of poets teaching courses and workshops there, including Tony Brown, Tom Daley, Patricia Smith, Regie Gibson, and Quincy Troupe. I highly recommend taking a moment to look over the course descriptions, because I don't see anyway a poet looking to sharpen their craft can't find something to benefit from.
The second, "Writing from the Well," a workshop in Los Angeles by Deborah Edler Brown:
Writing from the Well
A workshop with Deborah Edler Brown
The Writing from the Well workshop is a safe, intimate circle in which to explore your own creative water table, to discover what moves you and what gets you moving, to clear the channel so that the work that comes through you is vibrant and true. Whether you are creating or recreating a writing practice, whether you are writing poetry, fiction or nonfiction, this workshop's exercises and discussions invite you into a new relationship with inspiration and the writing process. Are you ready to join us? Let's find out where fresh water flows!
9-Week Series starting in June
Cost: $400 ($360 if paid by May 30).
Westside location. Class size limited.
Tues class starts June 6, 7:30-10:30 p.m.
