Routine oil change reveals need for transmission flush. Replacing a headlight reveals electrical problem. Bah. We should go back to horses. I haven't ridden a horse in years, and I admit they're difficult to keep, but horses are nice. Also, better eating than a Saturn SL1.

Of perhaps more general interest is the revelation of John Peel's stash of emergency records -- the albums he need to keep on hand in case he needed them RIGHT THAT SECOND. Much White Stripes in the mix, which is interesting, but his son says it was probably because they were his band of the moment -- meaning the "emergency stash" was a fluid thing. Still, some neat stuff in there. Some of my particular favorites:

5. Anemic Boyfriends - Guys Are Not Proud + Bad Girls in Love (RED SWEATER RECORDS) 1980

46. Jane Bond and The Undercover Men - Hot rod Lincoln + Come on up (EAR MOVIES RECORDS) 1982

61. MC5 - Looking at you + Borderline (A-SQUARE RECORDS) 2x copies

88. Sheena Easton - 9 to 5 + Moody (EMI) 1980 2x Copies

100. The Buzzcocks - Ever fallen in love (UNITED ARTISTS) 1987

113. The Undertones - Teenage kicks (GOOD VIBRATIONS RECORDS) 1978 3x copies
