Party like it's November 2008

Evidently, the next presidential election has begun, and if early candidates don't think that's going to blow up in their faces, I think they're going to be in for a few surprises.
Of course, a lot of people are talking like it's over already. Consider Salon's piece about the Hillary Clinton Juggernaut. Sigh. The next Democrat who uses the phrase "electable" gets kicked in the crotch by a steel-tipped boot. If you people have proved anything in the past five years since the term came into real vogue, it's that you have no idea who's electable and who's not. So stop frontin', as the kids these days say.
Unfortunately, most of the candidates are doing very little, and have reverted to the "I'm just the same as George Bush, except not corrupt" mold. Which isn't going to cut it. Have you not learned from John Kerry's mistakes!?!?
Russ Feingold, on the other hand, looked good on "The Daily Show." He came off as calm, likable, honest and -- most importantly -- brave. It's a long haul ahead. Don't count Russ out yet. I think he might be the only one of the Dem candidates that's actually paying attention to what's going onout here in the real world, and the rest will pay a little for that.

Date: 2006-03-23 03:14 pm (UTC)Plus, as many letterwriters to Salon point out. Isn't America supposed to be opposed to dynasty politics? We've had two Bushes in a short period of time, having two Clintons as well would be very damaging. And come on, there are MILLIONS of Democrats, saying Hilary is the only electable one is such crap.
As for Obama, he's not gonna run. And he shouldn't - voting for the Patriot Act after making a pledge to the American Library Association shows he already has developed that Clintony poll driven "pragmatism" myopia and he's been in office for just two years.

I think the fact that Clinton is a front runner shows how the American psyche is preparing for a woman president. Already I've heard republicans and conservatives clamouring for Condi.
